Continuous Improvement – how do I implement it?

People think improving productivity means working harder, faster, longer. Can anyone explain to me how that is supposed to work? Continuous improvement is detecting, evaluating, and then stopping processes that add no value. Then as the time needed to do each process shortens, you can’t help but get more done!

Making people want to work

Do you think people work because they are paid to work? If that is your belief then you probably won’t watch this and you certainly won’t believe it! People work because they want to work. People GO TO work because they need money to live, but what they do when they get there is due to other reasons. Perhaps you believe in close supervision and performance reviews? That is marginally better if at all, but why pay for all those people, processes and the high recruitment costs? That sounds crazy to me.
