How do you measure employee engagement? Why do you measure it? Why is it important?
If employee engagement is a means to an end – productivity, performance, creativity – then why not measure success in terms of your purpose?
Scientifically, the more directly you measure something, the less opportunity for error and bias is created.
For a business, the purpose is to make profit. There can only be one purpose.
How you create that is something else. It may we be that employee engagement, Green credentials, and charitable works all help achieve the sole purpose. But these are tactics, not purpose.
In the 21st Century, people are more interested in spending their working day striving, in a good way, to achieve a good thing, and get paid – make a profit – at the same time.
